Tea Tasting Box
When I ran Zahava Foods, an online store for gourmet Israeli products, one of my most popular products was Wissotzky Tea, a venerable Israeli brand. A beautiful Wissotzky wooden tea box is still a popular souvenir; they are sold in airport duty-free stores. I experienced an unexpected boost when Wissotzky tea boxes were sold on QVC. Fortunately, when customers from all over the country wanted to refill their boxes, their online searches for the brand led them to me. Unfortunately, they tended to order 10 or 12 boxes of their favorite flavor, which played havoc with my inventory. I created a sampler box of my own, branded with the Zahava Foods logo, that included one tea bag of every flavor. I added a Tasting Card, that allowed my customers to keep track of which flavors they liked. Over time, my customers began placing orders for 10 DIFFERENT teas, which helped me control my inventory and sell even more tea. My sampler box became a popular gift item for my customers, which in turn, introduced Wissotzky to even more potential customers. The project led me to develop a relationship with Wissotzky, who provided me with their branded swag that I offered as gifts and prizes to my customers. |
